Adele

AdeleAdele Mara April 28, 1923 - - May 7, 2010) was an American actress, singer, and dancer, who was a part of films in the 1950s and 1940s, as well as on television in the 1950s and 1960s. Under the professional name of Adele St. Mara, she won a contract with Columbia Pictures [citation required] and gained experience working in the studio's "B" features as well as comedy shorts. This title was quickly changed to Adele Mara. Mara started her career as a receptionist the Three Stooges movie I Can Hardly Wait. Mara as well as Leslie Brooks played the sisters of Rita Hayworth's character in the Fred Astaire film You Were Never Lovelier. In Alias Boston Blackie (1942) she is the lead female character, playing the sister of an escaped and falsely found guilty prisoner. The film was released by Republic Pictures after her Columbia contract was removed. In Republic Pictures, she was a part of Westerns and outdoor adventure. [citation needed] She starred in The Vampire's Ghost, Wake of the Red Witch with John Wayne, Angel in Exile (leading lady), Sands of Iwo Jima with John Wayne in which she was John Agar's love interest, California Passage (leading lady), and Don Siegel's Count the Hours (supporting role).
