The program was created by MGM/The History Channel, and won critical acclaim as well as Emmy prizes. Winnick's segment was directed by 2020, along with her role as the lead on Vikings. Entertainment Weekly said that "Lagertha" was the "most interesting female character in television." The actress has received numerous acclaims in her portrayal of the fierce shieldmaiden, including an award from the Women's Image Network Award for the Most Outstanding Actress of a TV Drama Series for the year 2018, the Critic's choice Award for the top Supporting Actress in 2014, the Canadian Screen Award for the Leading Dramatic Actress for 2014, as well as the Women's Image Network Award for the best Actress in a TV Drama Series in 2015 and 2016 along with the Golden Maple Award for the best Actress for the role of a TV Series. Apart from these impressive nominations, Katheryn was awarded the Serendipity Film's Excellence Award at the Banff World Media Festival in 2015. Katheryn was also selected to serve as a member of the jury for the upcoming Cannes Series festival.
