Madekwe is a child of a mixed-race family from South London in England. Her father is Nigerian and Swiss and her mom is English. Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 with the drama The Beautiful Life. The drama aired for just two episodes before being removed from The CW. The actress was selected in February 2011, as Ashley Davenport on the ABC drama Revenge. The show premiered in May 2013 and it was announced that Madekwe, who had played a regular role in the two previous seasons, had decided to quit the show after a guest-appearance in the first episode of the new season.
