She is an American actor and singer whose talents have won her recognition across many types of films ranging from thrillers and action films to period dramas. From a young age she began to develop a passion for acting and began performing in commercials by the age of seven. After that, she was enrolled in the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and later went to the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further refine her skills. In her early years she appeared in Sophistry with Ethan Hawke and made her film debut in Rob Reiner's North at the time of 1994. Johansson was next seen as a character in Just Cause (1995), prior to her breakthrough in the film Manny & Lo - a story of two sisters and orphans, who manage to escape. The film, The Horse Whisperer, Johansson as a teen victim of an incredibly tragic accident. The role she played in Ghost World brought her more recognition as the troubled teenager Rebecca. It was her love of acting as a child. Smith's parents supported her in finding her first stage role at age six. Smith appeared in a Dannon commercial on TV. Like numerous young actresses, she began her stage career. She took part in different projects throughout the USA while she was making her debut on stage. She attended the Stonestreet Studios Conservatory of the New York University Tisch School of the Arts.
